Wakeify is the alarm clock that wakes you to your favorite music

Wakeify is a free music alarm clock app for iPhone and iPad that wakes you up to any song, album, artist or playlist from Spotify or Apple Music.

Instead of the tone you have snoozed a thousand times, you wake up to a song you actually chose, from the music library you already listen to every day.

  • Wake up to your own music from Spotify, Apple Music, or a built-in iOS tone
  • Rings through silent mode, through Focus, even after you force-quit the app
  • A free Spotify account is enough. No subscription needed
  • No account, no ads, nothing to sign up for

Free, no ads, no sign-up. Works with a free Spotify account. Read the FAQ.

  • Spotify
  • Apple Music
  • Built-in iOS tones
The Wakeify alarm list on iPhone, on a pure black screen. A 9:00 alarm labelled Wake up repeats on weekdays and plays Songs of Innocence by U2; an 18:00 alarm labelled Gym repeats Monday, Wednesday and Friday and plays NUEVAYoL by Bad Bunny. A heading reads Alarms, with Next alarm in 1d 7h 50m below it.

How do I choose the song my alarm plays?

Open an alarm in Wakeify, tap the Sound row, and search Apple Music, Spotify or the built-in iOS tones. Pick a song, an album, an artist or a playlist. For anything other than a single song, Wakeify picks one track from your selection, and picks a different one the next time you save the alarm.

Wakeify searches the full Apple Music and Spotify catalogues from inside the app, so a track does not have to be in your library first. Tap the play button next to any result to hear exactly what your alarm will sound like before you commit to it.

Prefer something neutral? The Tones tab has the built-in iOS alarm sounds, and it works with no music account connected at all.

Wakeify's music picker on iPhone. Tabs across the top switch between Apple Music, Spotify and Tones. A Songs section lists tracks by Bad Bunny and a Playlists section lists Apple Music playlists, each row with an orange play button to hear it. A search field at the bottom contains the words Bad Bunny.

Does Wakeify fade the music in instead of blasting it?

Yes. Every music alarm in Wakeify rises from silence over five seconds, so you wake up to the song instead of being hit by it. Full Song mode is the one exception: a Full Song alarm starts at your media volume, with no fade.

The fade is a detail, not the pitch. The pitch is what plays: a track you picked yourself, quiet at first so the song is what registers rather than the volume, and it keeps going until you get up and stop it.

More on the trade-offs in Full Song mode.

Will the alarm still ring if Wakeify is closed?

Yes. Your alarm still rings through silent mode and through a sleep Focus, even after you force-quit the app. You do not have to keep Wakeify open overnight, and you do not have to leave the ringer on.

Once the alarm is saved it rings whether or not Wakeify is running, whether or not Spotify is open, and whether or not you are online that morning. Nothing to leave running, nothing to remember at bedtime, no ringer switch to check.

Wakeify's Edit Alarm screen on iPhone. A time wheel is set to 9:00. Below it, Repeat is set to Weekdays, the label reads Wake up, Sound is set to Songs of Innocence, Snooze is switched on with a snooze length of 9 minutes, and a separate Full Song toggle is switched off. A red Delete Alarm button sits at the bottom.

Is Wakeify hard to set up?

No. Wakeify uses the same time wheel, the same repeat days and the same list of toggles as the Clock app already on your iPhone. The only new row is the one where you choose a song. Setting your first music alarm takes about a minute.

Label your alarms, set snooze anywhere from one to thirty minutes, switch to a 24-hour clock, and repeat on whichever days you like. Wakeify runs on iPhone and iPad, in dark mode and light, and uses a sidebar layout on iPad rather than a stretched phone screen.

Wakeify on iPad in light mode. A sidebar lists Alarms and Settings. The Alarms view shows an 18:00 alarm and an Add Alarm sheet is open, with a time picker set to 2:45 and rows for Repeat, a label placeholder reading Work, gym, meds, Sound set to Default Tone, Snooze switched on, and a 9 minute snooze length.

How do I set a Spotify song as my iPhone alarm?

Install Wakeify from the App Store, connect Spotify or Apple Music, add an alarm, then tap the Sound row and search for a track. Save it, and your iPhone rings with that song from the next alarm on. The whole thing takes about a minute.

  1. Install Wakeify from the App Store

Wakeify is free and runs on both iPhone and iPad.

  2. Connect Spotify or Apple Music

Sign in to Spotify, allow Apple Music, or skip both and use the built-in iOS tones. A free Spotify account is enough.

  3. Add an alarm and pick a song

Set the time and repeat days as usual, then open the Sound row and search for whatever you want to hear at 6:30 in the morning.

  4. Save the alarm

Tap Save. From that moment on your iPhone rings with your song, through silent mode and through Focus.

Common questions about Wakeify

Do I need Spotify Premium?

No. A free Spotify account is all you need, and the alarm rings even with Spotify closed. Only Full Song mode, which plays the complete track, needs an Apple Music subscription.

Will Wakeify wake me through a Focus?

Yes, and through silent mode too. Silencing your phone does not silence your alarm, and neither does a sleep Focus.

What does Wakeify collect?

No account and no personal data. Wakeify records anonymous usage and crash statistics only, never song names or alarm times, and a switch in Settings turns even those off.
